 Not far from Gordon's Bay, Western Cape, South Africa.

Taken at the 18mm end of the lens. I used a 3-stop graduated neutral density filter to hold back exposure in the sky and a 2-stop neutral density filter to increase the exposure time.

RAW conversion in Lightroom. Noise reduction, masked curves adjustment layer to increase contrast, masked curves adjustment layer to brighten rock, resize and sharpen (selectively).

I wonder if the weather there is as unpredictable as the weather on the Pacific Coast where I just returned from. I was there a week and never had a day where a thick fog didn't settle over the coast, so, tho I had hoped to try my hand at a shot like this -- there was nooooo way it was going to happen! It makes me appreciate the strength of a photo like this! It is stunning! Congratulations on 7th place!

the detail in the rocks contrasted with the smoothness of the water along with the darkness of the rocks contrasted with the orange in the sky is beautiful. 10 for me.
