I was playing around with more of krnodil's suggestions. For this one I was trying the "What if I defocus during the exposure?" technique. I'm really pleased with how it came out!

Re: the white balance - Hehe. Yeah, it is a personal preference thing. I've gotten called out for my tendency toward yellowy images in the past, but I honestly do like the warm feel of them. I'll try it the other way too, just to see. :)

Softness is very nice here, and drapery background suits.

The soft focus suits Leo well. If you stare at this long enough, you almost feel hypnotized.

A very eerie softness here. I like the tones as they are.

I'll be curmudgeonly with Don and suggest you fix the white balance a little - or convert to B&W. Otherwise I also agree that the defocus thing works very well - the softness is quite pleasing and it gives wonderful depth to those eyes!

i get that look sometimes and not always from the dog ... !!!
i dont mind the yellow look, its all very personal that sort'v thing .. i reckon it gives the image a very warm and comforting home feel .. like nearly in front of the fire .. :)

Is it curmudgeonly of me to suggest you fix the white balance? Lovely shot otherwise.
