Re-edited some shots from a visit of my neighbor the Barred Owl in 07. I topazed this one to pop it a bit. CS4 provided much greater control than Elements in the conversion from RAW.

Love how the branches frame him. I have yet to capture an owl in the wild; one flew right overhead once but disappeared into the trees before I could react. I'm jealous!

What luck to be able to capture a shot like this! The lighting is superb and the detail is wonderful. Topaz really worked well on this to bring out the detail! Nice job!

Owls are usually hard to spot in the daytime when they are sleeping in the trees. This was a good find. I have only had two opportunities like this over about 25 years of shooting pix. Excellent detail, and the environment looks very natural for this. I also like the way the three limbs frame the owl.

I am so jealous. I can hear an owl or two in my vicinity but I have never seen them. Normally I am not a fan of Topaz but its effective here (mainly because it wasn't overdone)

Ahh, there he is in color. Personally i like him better in color, but thats because I like to see everything as it is in nature. Thanks for sharing the color version. I love the looks that owls give.
