This is a candid, and she was so absorbed playing with the plate, hence the title. This was a single moment she realized was being photographed, made the eye contact and went back to her thing.... :)
I'm taking a couple of risks for this challenge:
1. All of Heida's kids shots are not high key (found only one high key in her profile - a non-B&B SP)
2. The prop: it will either make it for the voters or kill it.
The image was a little too grannular, due to the ISO 800 and lighting, and the HK was easier to control that on PP.
Afterwards, I liked the final result anyway...
[Sep. 9th, 2009 01:30:41 PM]
Score is currently at ~5.52.
Comment by indicates one of my risks about high key.
[Sep. 15th, 2009 11:15:34 PM]
Score went as high as 5.65.
On the final strech, got many 4's and 5's, as the high-key doesn't reverberate with the voters.

Thank you everyone for the votes and comments. I surely had lots of fun this week.
Sorry to make many of you scramble through Heida's portfolio looking for a hint of high-key there... ;~) |

I couldn't find any high-key photos by Heida. In fact they tend to be more toward low-key. |

Maybe a little too high key. I'm reminded of Poltergeist for some reason. |

I think that not "high key" but "low key" is Heida style |

I really like the high-key effect, but the overall impression is dominated by the featureless white blob in the middle. Without that this would be a marvellous portrait. |

I don't know how you gut it that white without washing out so much detail, but you did it! One of my favorites from this challenge. |

High key portraits is nothing I combine with the Heida's style. That being said, it's a very good high key portrait. |
