scottieham is in this photo :P

we hiked up to this spot known as Hawk Watch. the people standing around are looking for hawks miles up in the sky. i couldn't see anything, but they seemed to be really excited by the little black dots. i guess you need some good binoculars.

the bag on the tree belonged to one of the people there. since i had just met them that day, i didn't feel comfortable asking if i could move it. the sky looks like that because i had a polarizer on. i really need to invest in a GND, although for an hdr i guess i shouldn't have used anything.

for the record, the rock they are standing on is on a small 15' cliff. the next drop after that is several hundred feet

The angle makes it look like i'm a lot closer to the edge than I really am. There is probably a good 8 more feet of rock before it drops off. The drop right there isn't too bad. I mean I wouldn't want to fall, but you'd probably just tumble into some trees. I believe the think on the tree is someone's backpack. BTW I'm the second one from the right (I guess that's probably obvious by the camera!)

Another one that I felt was way underrated. Probably because you kept it real looking. That theory is also supported by the fact that K-man valued it at a 7. It got an 8 from me.

Interesting image. Well composed. Just one notch oversat. The sky uneven gradient is distracting.

to be honest the folks in the shot make it a bit snapshotty. Very wise to put the number of shots in the title .... its not obviously HDR in the classic overblown sense and in that context has acheived the goal very well. Its quite a good picture if one crops the folks out.

Other than imaging what those folks are doing, there many distractions here: the bag hanging on the tree is a no-no. the foreground is not pretty and steals from the beauty of the mountains at the back and the sky.

Tells an interesting story. Nice bold colors, but still rendered in a realistic manner. What's that hanging off of the tree?

Amazing colors! They're great but still look fairly realistic. Image is sharp and inf ull focus. I wish it was more about the subject though. Good job!

I like the scene, subject, and composition. I don't like the difference in blue behind the tree and rest of the image. 4

Not so sure about the sky in this one - there is haloing around the trees. Shame, it's otherwise a nice image (still it got a 6 from me)

I shall be rating this challenge by the following criteria:

1 - Not HDR in my opinion

3 - HDR is way over-done, in my opinion

5 - A reasonable use of HDR, but not a very engaging photo, in my opinion

7 - A reasonable use of HDR, and an engaging photo, in my opinion

10 - A fantastic use of HDR, and an out of this world photo, in my opinion

Glad you mentioned it is 3 shot HDR '' a secret .. I hate 1 shot HDR '', love the feeling of the image, how peaceful it look, how a group of people would meet to do something they all love to do, like photography, a very well deserved 10.
Cheers,
