There are nine separate petals. They were easy to count when I was taking the photo but when viewing the image it may seem like less because some are very close to each other. Didn't have time to re-shoot. :(

I think this might have been more powerful in color maybe, or with a better black and white conversion? Seems very flat and lifeless to me.

The lighting has a flat feel to me in this shot. A backlight might have helped the flower to stand out and feel more alive giving better contrast between the live and dead petals... I like the placement of the vase and live flower in the frame.

I can only count 7 or 8??? Or maybe only 5 or 6, looks like some petals have been torn in half.
