OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for my Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: This is just flat-out brilliant use of a narrow DOF. I think to make this work you have to absolutely nail the eyes - which you have. I love the colouration and tones too and the vignette... well just about everything.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all.
Overall: Just as powerful as any human portrait shot. One of the best 'pet portraits' I have ever seen. Great photography. |

Love his sad expression. This looks like an old tintype image from the 30's. I like it. |
