Sorry about the flower shot but I worked hard on this set up and I just think it looks better than my original entry. I got these flowers at the Rittenhouse Square Farmer's Market on Saturday. I had specifically asked them last year to try to do the Green Eyed Susans, or Hirta Rudbeckia Irish Eyes. Not sure if they remembered or not but they did have them the last two times I went and I was very happy to see them there. I also go interviewed and video taped while buying the flowers. Not sure why or if I'll ever see it. But if it shows up on You Tube, I'll let you know. LOL!

Anyway, I had a heck of a time setting this up. The 5 flowers were in four glass bottles that I use when shooting in my 'studio'. I thought the stems were long enough that I could shoot above the bottles. But it did not work out. I had my standard black velvet background set up which would be the area to the right of the flowers in this. I took another piece of black velvet and draped it over the bottles and most of the stems on the left. It worked. Happy dance. Took several shots. Re-arranged the flowers one more time and this was result.

Shot with camera on tripod and using the cable remote release (yeah!). Lit with two clamp lamps each with a 100w energy saving bulb. The lights were above the shooting surface front and to the left and right of the subject.

There is what appears to be a dust spot on on the second flower toward from the front. But it looks more like a little shadow to me in the full size and I did not want to chance it. I also will probably get this pre-validated just in case someone thinks I did a massive clone job. Probably won't matter, cause you know it's just another flower shot.

OK... Here's the thing... While this picture certinly has every element in the plane of focus and it is really very pretty, it isn't a good example of DEEP DOF.

Really does not meet the challenge. Nice shot of the flowers, though.

Great shot but does not really demonstrate the challenge topic to full effect

Really nice composition and lighting, but struggling to see a demonstration of deep DOF.
