Went to an early dinner out at a restaurant on the edge of a big power corridor. Sun was setting, and the lines are (mostly) straight.

This is actually last minute change of picture. I had an interesting picture of the inside of a rocket nozzle, but this one of power lines had far more color and life to it. My original submission is here: //www.flickr.com/photos/dustingooding/3954302639/

Also, this is my first submission to DPC. Be gentle, and brutally honest.

I like the framing/composition you chose here. I am not sure I like having the clouds in the image, as I think they take something away. I know you have no control over that though... just saying.

Like the composition on this one. A lot of people entered something similar to this but yours sticks out as different. Good job.

Post voting comment upon request. I rather like these things as subject matter, but I'm weird. Not everyone likes powerlines... go figure! Anyway, meets the challenge - definitely lines, definitely straight. Good color without being oversaturated (though oversaturated will often work well at DPC... use it sparingly). Where it probably lacks in scoring is overall beyond-the-challenge "appeal" - in other words, it's a solid shot, good focus, reasonably clean from noise, but is it something you'd use as a screensaver on your computer or print and hang by your desk? Keep in mind that's very subjective - many of my shots I can answer yes to those questions, but no one else would! So you need to do two things, at a minimum, at DPC to score well - meet the challenge, unequivocably, and have appeal to the masses.

Nice eye. I'm always complaining about power lines in the way of some shot I want. I didn't even think of them when they might be the subject.
