The sun was setting and partially hidden behind a house, hence the light only at the top of the post.

The band thing in the sky is because I have a very cheap polariser... well, it wasn't cheap but doesn't work too well with a 17mm lens on full frame.

Editing: hardly anything... raw file was adjusted for white balance, boosted vibrance and saturation and contrast.

In Photoshop I ran Noise Ninja over everything to smooth the sky a little bit and did a slight levels adjustment to bring out some of the mids in the post. Also did a USM of 15/25 and another one at 70/.3

This is my first submission in ages to DPC.

A pretty good and well done shot of a normally boring an uninteresting subject. The fade of the sky is really nice and smooth.

An interesting image. Simple and clean. Interesting how the gradation of color in the sky works opposite to the gradation of color in the pole.

I score this image quite high in my voting phase, and now I'm commenting, I think the simplicity and the colour really appealed to me. I love the colour gradient, and the detail in the wood... and the composition is excellent.

Cool. Like the goldenness of it and the sorta captured light in the bulb.
