 This entry, and the portrait, are outtakes from the HDR challenge. I like the portrait, but to be honest, I'm not a big fan of the HDR look that the finished portrait displays. At some point I'll go back to it...

This is a great photo. One of the best in the FS (IMO). Sky is fantastic, contrast is spot on and the subject and foreground is sharp and interesting... and there's a story to boot. Gave this an 8 during my voting phase, actually, think it was originally a 7 but I bumped it at completion of voting... any, been an 8 for a couple of days, and I reckon it deserves another bump... 9.

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for my Mu (most underrated) award:

Positives: Certainly not something you see everyday! I actually think this is a seriously good image and I dare say that it 'out-qualitys' the title. The main character offers loads of charisma to this shot and the perspective /POV works so well with the dramatic sky.

Critical stuff: The non-horizontal horizon behind him bugs me a little, but other than that.....

Overall: A really great image - I hope it does well!

Love the clouds here, they make the shot, not because they are the most interesting aspect but because they sit in nice contrast to the rest of the scene.
