 35mm Trashcams

Left: Bell & Howell completely mechanical camera with focus free 28mm lens and no controls. I ran a roll of Kodak 400 film through it and got a few keepers, but mostly the results were too good to be bad, and too bad to be good. $1.00 (It was half off day at the thrift store.)

Right: Minaki 35mm camera. Has a hot shoe mount and adjustable aperture (see detail below). The "Series 746277" 50mm plastic lens is found on other toy cameras, most notably the Yunon YN-500. The camera is stiff and creaky and should do some decidedly lomo tricks -- distortion, light leaks, etc. It was made in Taiwan and probably dates from the late 80's judging by the second generation Kodacolor Gold film that was in it. $6.00 (I was counting on half off again, but picked the wrong day.)

Interesting stuff, Brian. I'm going to hit the thrift store when I get the time. ("P'tang" would make a great username.)

LOL! Sorry you didn't get half off. It's a great 6 buck camera, though! Best part is the plastic strap - quite the fashion statement. Second best part is the dayglo paint on the four options for aperture. But the truly best part, of course, is the "p'tang" sound of the shutter. Delightful!
