I think you should have given this a portrait crop, and excluded the candle. The candle distracts from her face. |

Meets Challenge: 1 of 3. I'll give you one point here, because it's dark in the room... but low key, to me, means using highlights in an otherwise dark shot to describe your subject. Not fully, if dimly, lighting your subject in the dark.
Technical: 2 of 3. It's a decent crop and composition, but the soft focus on her face doesn't do it for me. She's a very pretty girl, I just wish I could see her, not the blur of her.
Emotion: 3 of 3. I'm sure you two had fun taking this shot. A good smile and great eyes and a very appropriate tilt of her head. Reminds me of when I was a kid.

The warmth of the color in this photo is matched only by her smile. This photos screams out 'comfort' to me. Great shot. |
