Shot with an umbrella directly behind the model and the obvious flash in front and to the right.
crop, adjust levels, pull down saturation on the red hair, resize, unsharp mask, save for DPC.
This is intentionally high-key. It may be a bit much for some, but I like it. I'd love to have been able to spot edit and clean up some of the noisy edges.

- Third day of voting, and I'm getting hammered. I didn't expect a high score, but I'm a bit surprised at the low 4.6 that is holding steady. I know it's washed out and her hair is a bit strong, but that was the point of the composition. I'll be interested to hear critique club assessment when this is all over.
-Post Challenge-
Well it's over and the pain can stop now. I'm gratified that a couple of "good" photogs found it acceptable. At the end of the day, with a shoddy 4.something, I still really like this picture.

I like how you included the flash (as per the challenge description suggested). I hope you did another one without it since it looks like you'd have a really pretty high key photo. |

In this case the blown highlight work for the image. Not sure all will appreciate how you did it, however. |

With a bit of care on the exposure, this would have been a great portrait. Now it is looking neither like a high key nor like a perfect exposure. |

I think i would like this photo if her hair was as blown out (high key) as the rest of her. The contrast between her hair and face is a bit severe. |
