This fly was on my neighbours outside window. It was not taken in a studio. The reflective surface is glass and the red is actually brick. It was hand held so not as sharp as it could have been if it was in a "studio" but I was quite pleased with the results. Thanks for all the encouraging comments.

Well.. congratulations on a wonderful photo. I guess, people were more concerned about 47 steps than the photo. :) As I said, in my comment during voting, its a wonderful shot. Well done.

the colors in this are just phenomenal the fly just jumps out of the soft pinks and cremes of the background. i wouldve done a little more cloning on whatever its standing on but that isnt a reason for me to give this any less than a ten

this is a stellar picture, but I don't think it fits with the idea of the challenge very well... I have a hard time connecting this to the concept of walking out of your house, to a non-studio environment, and having a bug happenchance land on a beautifully lit, colored, reflective surface... who knows, maybe I'm totally wrong on that, and if I am, I apologize.

I am envious - you have your studio only 47 steps from your home :-/

Seriously, you found this fly sitting on a reflective surface by taking 47 steps from your door - with the specified turns? Or was this little guy glued to a reflective surface and you took him with you on the route, then set him down for the shoot? It's an excellent macro shot. I just can not question whether this meets the challenge in truth.
