I was trying to get the majority of the lines in the photo to converge at the finger tip.

I knew this photo would receive an emotionally driven vote going into the challenge. As expected, people either love it or hate it (just as was the case with my very first challenge entry).
I think I shall go with a positive emotional response next time and see how the voting changes.... just to experiment a bit. =)

I can't believe this did so poorly. Brillant idea and well executed, thought this would make top10 at least.

You got robbed. One of the more creative and certainly evocative entries in the challenge. . Don't let the average vote make you think this was not good. It is, it just didn't hit most voters over the head with wow-factor and it didn't make them feel good. Sometimes you go in knowing you will have strong appeal for a narrow group.

An interesting study I like the shallow DOF and the way the finger draws the eye to the blurred subject.

This is a disturbing photograph in both tone and suggestion. What comes to mind immediately is domestic violence and/or intimidation of one human being by another. Interesting glint of the marriage ring though out of focus deliberately as is this relationship. Dark photograph, dark theme.

My eye is led to the man with the glasses, which seems more of a rule of thirds to me, however, these compositional rules are very open to interpretation and I think you were centering it around the fingertip. I really like this, however. It's different and has a lot of visual impact.
