Converted from NEF to tif in Irfan. 'Fix' exposure (contrast, shadows, brightness), colour(saturation) and crop in Windows Live Photo Gallery. Resize and save as jpeg.

IMO I think I would have tried to have taken out the base of the cross...it fight for my attention and doesn't add to the picture...
