I left my pottery class early to go to a local and fairly significant temple on a the side of a mountain that used to have a castle on it. As I was leaving, I passed this priest conducting a ceremony to pray for safe driving. He played the taiko drum and also blew a large conch shell (very impressive), while chanting various sutras. Finally he gave lucky charms to the two paying customers, who would, presumably, hang them from their rear-view mirrors later. In fact, they parked their cars right in front of the little building (there are four spaces for cars there).
Too bad about having part of the drum in shot, but there was also a tassel hanging down in front which I was more concerned about, and managed to miss. ;-Þ

This is no more weird a ceremony than some of the things that go on in churches, synagogues, mosques, temples and shrines around the world.

first thing that comes to my mind is "sharpness" or OOF...might have tightened up the crop to eliminate the round thing on the left leaving the 2 statues and the person in the middle

I like the center comp. You can really tell that it was not a set up but real life
