Well, this was very exciting shot to get as the train flew by and was kinda dangerous as I stood on the other live tracks. This is a place where many active trains come and go. So, I had to act fast for this shot...Not great I think, however, was my first attempt to shoot such a thing...I thought that the background was ok too as the State Capital was in it....hope that may make it better to look at...however, thinking about scouting other areas where train might be with much more nicer backgrounds....has gone me interested in captureing more when I have more than a week to do it in. Perhaps use ISO 400, 1/8 and a tripod. To get better action shot. Hmmmmmm......I'll have to go out some day again and do some shots.
Post Photo Edits: Converted to black and white with duo-tones added, unsharp mask, curves adjustments, burning a little to clouds, cropped, and resized. |

You have very nice sepia images in your portfolio. I like this one too. I esp. like the bit of motion in the train while the majority is still in focus. Nicely done. |

I love the motion blur of this one, unless the train was moving VERY slow and you used a slow shutter speed you chose a very dangerous place to capture a great photo. The sky is also fantastic, as is the sharpness, and DOF. I'm rating this one an 8, I think I've only rated half a dozen photos so high in the 2 years I've been voting on this site. Great, great job! |

Stunning composition - would have quakified for deep DoF. The moving train adds a unique perspective. The building dome and the very dark area around it seem a bit too unreal for me. Finally the telephone/electric wire are unfortunate.
Your black and white work is good with srong crisp whites and deep blacks. |

Amazing image, even with the power lines in the photo you have managed to make them fit in. The motion blur is so fitting, fantastic! |

Wow. You can hear the train and feel the wind on your face. |

this photgraph is very visually appealing to me. it just kind of jumped out at me. the contrast and all the various lines are well done- and attractive. |

Lovely, a longer exposure time would have made it even more dramatic. 8 |

good idea but the sky and clouds look overly edited and unnatural |

This is a fine example of nice use of contrast. This in my book is a winner. 10 |

Man! I love this. I love that your eye is drawn right into the movement. THe lines here work perfect. This is excellent in black and white and the blur in teh sky and the contrast in the sky is really cool - really adds a lot of drama. Well done 10 |
