Menardmam: I believe you don't HAVE to make a comment. Have you considered that the kind of comment you've made here might also be a waste of the reader's time? You never know who's submission you're judging when you judge and this photo could have been a first submission by a young 'wannabe' who ends up crucified by such a comment and who then loses trust in this site as being a helpful tool by which to achieve his/her dream. If you believe that you are a good photographer (I see you also submit to the challenges), then I wonder if you might also want to consider being the type who is prepared to try to share their knowledge and experience with others in a thoughtful and constructive way - when making a comment?

Thank you to all who considered my photo worthy of a vote and comment. It was indeed an artificial hand. I should have added a photographer's comment and have had my rubber knuckles rapped for not doing so :)

Original idea - and no one else thought of this old "classic." I wonder if our non-US voters did the same thing as kids? Colors seem a bit dull or muted - but other than that -it's a well done and effective submission.

Nice idea but the lighting (harsh, direct, dark shadows) is very poor

Is this a rubber hand - the coloring is off, and there could be a little bit more light. I like the concept though.

Nice idea but I have a few problems with this photo. The shadow makes it look like the hand is resting on a surface, as I assume it was, which is not what you would expect for someone holding straws for a choice. The hand looks fake, I donĂ¢€™t know if that was the look you were going after or not. The photo is darker then it needs to be. And there is a fair bit of compression artifacts showing.

To me this is a super representation of 'choice' for the challenge. Well depicted by inviting the viewer to 'pick a straw'!

Hand looks very plasticy.
Light is very harsh

This idea is very nice for this challenge... but there is no depth of field.. I don't like too much the shadow under the hand... (don't care about me, I'm not an expert!)

Neat concept. IMO there seems to be a lot of digital noise in the picture. Maybe some post process sharpening would help.
