Ok, bear and I are back to normal with this one (even though it came before powerlines...) Wasn't crazy about this one. I think because the wing overwhelms it... |

Bold, compelling image. Last place is inexplicable. |

So fabulous - the eye is lead directly to the head and those awesome feelers. I can't get over the brilliance of your point of view. It's haunting and intense. Stupid voters. |

paulbtlw & pineapple took the words right out of my mouth: you are clearly on a roll, and this is far too interesting to be in last place. |

You're on a roll, man! Rolling in the gutter of drunken creativity. I have a Yashica 124 for you if you want it. That might get a bit more grain for you. |

Brown - OK, I wasn't crazy about it (I gave a 5); but last?? I'm genuinely surprised. |

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: Interesting offering - I like the way that you are fully confident in your use of blur, image makes little attempt to bow to convention. I think you have captured the essence of the subject quite well.
Critical stuff: All of the above really; this isn't an easy image to look at.
Overall: Not for me but a bold, carefree, independent image nonetheless. Bravo. |

I am not sure if the centered composition really helps this one. I like the textures in this but the composition leaves me stuck in the middle of the photo. |

My first thought: "WTF?"
My second thoght: "Is this an abstraction?"
My third thought: "Is that a flying bug?"
My fourth thought: "Is this an abstraction of a flying bug?"
My fifth thought: "wtf..."
I don't know what to say.. If you have edited it some, then there's no other way to do it. You've taken your photo and done the best you possibly could do with the outcome. Strangest thing, IT LOOKS AWESOME! I'm thinking: maybe black and white? nah... won't work.. Looks like an old horror movie, sepiatoning then? nah...
Forget it.. This is strange, bizar, abstract, weird, every other word that means the same as those (but in a good way). I think the key to your sucesfully bizard photo is the composition, or the amazingly odd colors.
Damned it, that was a long commment... I'll give you a good score though =) |
