Alien Egg? Or a single black peppercorn on a piece of brushed aluminium?

Daylight and tungsten lighting gave the peppercorn a purple hue which I changed to 'alien' green.

Shot with a Raynox macro adaptor on the end of my 70-300mm (@ 300mm) - this combination offers the highest magnification from the kit I have.

this has me totally stumped (and bothered, actually.)
It looks like a brain, but I'm guessing that's because it's a brain that did it.
so - I'm sure it's something simple and nonconclusive so I'm going to vote an 8 AND NOT WORRY ABOUT IT ANYMORE.

I think it may be a seed of some kind. Perhaps a spice used in the kitchen.

looks like the fruit off of a cypress tree or the left testicle of an alien?? great use of negative space. the noise adds to the gritty look of this. corrected typo. :0
