Not an unusual subject, but nothing else from this month is as interesting to me. Well, except some of my Bird outtakes, but I suspect voters won't be excited about more birds. And I do like the light and detail here.
PP - qtpfsgui (pregamma 0.697, mantiuk method, contrast mapping 0.1, saturation factor 1.049, detail factor 5.5), merged with original at 20% transparency, white balance, levels, cropped, dodged eyes a bit more, cloned out bright bit under one eye, blurred background more, resized, sharpened, added border.

| Probably one of the better squirrel photos I've ever seen.The texture and color of the fur is very good. Though the pose is somewhat typical of squirrels, I like it quite a bit here. I'd like to see a bit more DoF to get the details out of that giant bushy tail, but I like it as it is. |

| This pretty amazing really - squirrel shots are 10 a penny (done a bunch myself) but this 'pose', this lighting and this background elevate this image to something rather special. |

| Gotta love the little buggers. I am happy is head is in focus. It is a nice clean portrait of the critter. Though for me it does not offer enough excitement or wow factor. |
