Meet my dear friend Lou.
About 2 years ago, he left to take a walk to the store. His lovely wife Margaret asked him to bring her back a muffin. 30 minutes later he returned with the muffin and Margaret was still in the chair where he left her, unfortunately, she had passed away. After 48 years of marriage, his beloved wife was gone.
Shortly thereafter he moved to his son's home in Virginia, but his heart belonged to Washington and much to my delight, he is back.
You would be hard pressed to find a man with a kinder, gentler heart.

I think the noise and stark look will not appeal to many of the voters, but it's really what I wanted to convey along with the look of the whole apt that I got with the fisheye. He now lives in a small studio in a senior housing apt building and it just seems like it must be very loney.

I adjusted w/b and exposure in Lightroom and used lucis and the channel mixer in ps.
I am guessing a 5.2 on this

i didn't know that you had entered this into a challenge?! oh well. i think what would have made the picture better is if he stood out a little more. ya he is the main subject but still.
I missed him a lot! glad he is back! :D

What a wonderful portrait of your friend; what a moving, sad story about the passing of his bride. God bless Lou.

:( Sigh. I'm sad for Lou. How shocking to lose a wife so unexpectedly. I think you conveyed the mood of the situation very well. I guess it just wasn't enough eye candy to get the voters to give it the score it deserves. Your commenters certainly got it tho didn't they?

I get the story, but I think it is a little vague in the photo itself. Perhaps if there was some more emphasis on the subjects new found situation through a careful choice of the objects in the scene...
