I was going to post this red-tailed hawk in the December free study but I figured after the bird challenge it might be too much. This guy had just finished eating his lunch and was resting on a sign-post. I was so excited to get as close as I did that I forgot to check my camera settings, so probably could have done alot to improve the shot.

I don't know what you could have changed in camera to improve this shot. In post, I might try brightening the eye a little though. Great start to the challenge.

i wouldnt worry too much, i spend alot of time driving back and forth through eastern washington and often see hawks along side the road and have thought of stopping many times, this is great, something i would have been proud to shoot......with a camera that is.....

Very majestic bird. Excellent profile, really conveys how pointed their beaks are. Great light.

Sharpness is excellent in feathers. However edge of the bird (especially lower edge of beak) has some over-sharpening artifact -- you might want to use layers (or the sharpening tool) to impart different amounts of sharpening to different parts of the image (specifically back down on the sharpening just a bit at the edges of the bird).
