Hi Chris, greetings from the Critique Club!

I scored a 7 on your shot, I liked it very much, because of the silhouette type action shot.
Regarding more details:

Composition
The two things I think hurt your shot were the too close crop (you have another of these in colour with a wee bit more space) and the fact that silhouette shots lack depth and 3D feeling. If you don't have front colours, you can't notice the levels where the subjects are placed. Probably some different angle could have help to separate the barrel and skier.

Technique / lighting
1/4000?? Brutal! Great control on that sun behind the barrel, it's just showing enough to make it very powerful and gives it a great stop motion.

Processing
Love the sepia look, superb sharpness all around. I would probably have burned and dodged some part of the sky, to emphasize the clouds a bit more.

Overall
Still a great score of 5.58, in a challenge packed with great photos.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Regards,
Joao

I like it but have to admit it took me a second to see what was going on. It looks like the board is attached to the barrel -- would like to have seen some separation. Still good stop action.
