Greetings from the Critique Club!
First Impression: I gave this a 7. I like the processing and looks great in black and white.
Composition: Horizon line seems to be in the middle, but it's not as noticeable with the house in the fore front. I might have taken a little bit off the bottom and left sides though.
Subject: Abandoned house in the middle of nowhere is great, title adds to the mystery. Only way it could be better if there was a hooded figure somewhere in the picture.
Technical: Win/Lose situation on the processing it seems, some seem to like the PP others think it's too much. I wouldn't change anything you did though. B/w was a good choice too.
Final thoughts: Like I said I gave this a 7, I thought it would do much better, but DPC is tricky. Looking at your other challenge entries it looks like this type of PP has worked for you before. I think you were just hit by HDR haters.

| Nice B&W tones and details , but the image doesn't quite appeal to me for some unknown reason. 6, I think it is likely to be the composition of where the house is placed in the frame. |

| Very good B&W an dthis simple single house has so much character in this vast open space. It sreally nice but an animal would have told another story as well. Like this as is also |

| I think this might be one of those love/hate images. I think it's pretty cool visually, but the processing does look a bit heavy handed. |

| B&W tones are very dynamic in this rural shot. I like the horizontal composition for you get the great sweeping sense of isolation in the landscape this 'house' is nestled in. The clouds are dark and moody as if a great power resides in this land. Well done! |

There's a lot here I like, and only a couple that I don't. It's a great subject against a really interesting landscape and I think the B&W processing is great.
The things I don't like so much are the positioning of the structure, it's not really centered but it's not really far enough out of centre to make space for the landscape, it's just kind of there. The other is the details in the building are just a little dark and hard to see against all the bright details around it like the sky and grass.
Overall, a nice interesting image which is well processed. |
