The Buddha statue missing its head tells a terrible tale of war between two neighboring countries:
Burma (Myanmar) invaded Siam (Thailand)'s capital, Ayuttuya, and burnt the king's palace to the ground. In order to complete the siege, the Burmese made their victory clear as they cut the heads of all the sacred Buddha statues within the palace.
