 candid shot of a girls' basketball game. the hand of a ref. sunlight streaming through a single window. aperture set to 1.4 in order to isolate subject, not really necessary for this shot, but it helped because it brought in a lot of light.

black and white on the blue channel. curves to up contrast. reduce noise at full size and then sharpen after resize. big crop to ensure brown ribbon.

Dang it, when are we going to have another "Black & White" challenge. Your name will be up in lights! (Delicately)

Very, very lovely play on light in this image; one might almost say "a delicate play on light." Unfortunately, I seem be one of the very few to say it.

I'm not going to second-guess the voters; as far as I'm concerned, this is technically and artistically just fine. And meets the challenge about as well as 'most any of the entries.

So keep on seeing the world your way and thanks for letting us enjoy it with you.
