post comment:
title refers to that one beat after the end of a nice solo stint that ended the piece; audience and musicians seemed to agree that he nailed it. apologies for not getting the names as this was an early set at a club that treats jazz more as backdrop to the bar and dinner crowd - thus usually nyc session players, not "names" - I hope to print this and take it by the club and ask who they are and to give it to them.
many thanks for your thoughtful comments!

I thought this was another entry that deserved a higher score. It had a nice rhythm. |

The guy in the background makes this shot for me, without him it would just be an OK shot, but the look on his face makes it a brilliant shot! |

Great capture of expression! Had to be high ISO to get this in a jazz club - well done. |

There's something about his profile that reminds me of Art Pepper. (Art did occasionally play tenor.) I'll be curious to read who these guys are. Great shot, title adds something too. |

Brilliant - the focus on the sax player, the 'wow' from the trombonist, this captures it all - 10 |

Cool photo. Guy in the background a bit to much prominence and in the frame of the sax. |

I gotta say the expression on the Sax players face doesn't read "nailed it"...or maybe it does? Looks like he was caught more mid thought. It make me wonder if there was a moment, a fraction of a second before or after that would have parried or matched the other players expression with more force. |

Nice story here. I'd like to see the full face of the man in back, but that is a minor issue. 8 |

Nice live performance shot. It could have been improved in my opinion by being a bit more head on with your subject. This would enable complete view of the smiling man in the background and a more complete look into the soloists face. |

His expression makes me feel that he's not happy, which goes against your title and the guy in the background. A good candid though. |
