I had a few options for this months Free Study but i decided on this one purely because the few abstracts i've been doing are the most enjoyable photography i've done this month. It will score very low i'm sure but i don't really mind when i'm having this much fun. :) There is a lot i can see in the image.

GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB

My first impression of this image was: Oh boy, nebula! Second? Nazi salute, third? okay, so abstract that the viewer decides what it means.

I am (somehow) quite sure you don't want a technical evaluation of this image. You have just received my personal impressions - which must double as my Critique Club impressions because - well, just because.

I have read some of your remarks in the forums. Thus I feel sure you anticipated the score you received from DPCers who desire sharp, delineated, pretty images with an immediate message.

So, about all I can say is: "Keep 'em coming." They will be enjoyed by some. And isn't that something?

So much to look at here -- so many interpretations, yet none that's a perfect fit. Nice job.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: If I were going to guess I would say this was a zeuszen with an outside chance of clive_patric_nolan. The coloration, the grain and vignette all conspire to offer a crafted feel. For me, the appearance of the pointing figure shape is second level element.

Critical stuff: I think this surfs the boundary between well seen and (dare I say) a little contrived - however, I can see that all images are in a way contrived.

Overall: Pretty nice - not one of my favourites from this type of work but still quite convincing.

It does look like a human figure marching onward. An interesting abstract play of light and shadow.

...and I was sure it was zeuszen's :). nice work, Clive. Looks like a person's shadow on the right

Though not symmetrical, this is a Rorschach test to me: I see a human figure running (hope I pass). (not voting)

Gritty sort of abstract. Not really appealing to me.

Each time I see a photograph of this type, unintentionally I think zeuszen.
