I watched this kid lock up his bike and asked I could fire off a couple of shots. I think I freaked him out a little since I had to get real close with the fisheye lens. The image leans a bit to the right, could not crop that out. Overall I like the feel of his express and the surrounds.

GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB

First, I have to compliment you on your profile pic. Fun. Then, I see you have no qualms about asking people to take their pictures. This is a gift. You have it, congratulations. You can put this gift to good use in photography. Your Riverfront Skater is a fine piece of photography.

Okay, now to work. I have little to critique in the technical arena here. Your subject is placed well in the frame and the bike is a gem. I would suggest that a little fill-flash would have done wonders for the guy's face. But you were there, I wasn't. He might have objected to a flash going off in front of him.
Is the background a little busy? Well, yeah. It does tend to compete with the story of the guy with the bike. What would have happened if you had gotten lower to the ground? Was there another picture there that would also be compelling? I think what I am getting at is the story. The guy and bike is competing with the background arch and architecture. That may have been what confused the voters and caused a low score. Or maybe not.

All I can do here is toss out ideas. You're good. You will find your route to superior photography. And I look forward to seeing more of your work on DPC.

I hope this little critique was helpful to you.

Alice

Toe clips, friction style stem shifters, this bike may be the same age as the rider. No helmet, however. Tsk, tsk...
