GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB
Well, you pleased the crowd that looks at the out-of-the-ordinary and appreciates it!
Congratulations on that.
Technically, your lights and darks are well defined and balanced, you certainly meet the challenge and your framing is fun. I can see a hasty voter looking at this and saying "hmmm, a half & half image; broke a rule there," and giving a low score. But rules are made to be broken (let's call it adjusted) so the one-third/two-third convention needs to be tweaked sometimes.
You did it well, and your work was appreciated by some knowledgeable folk. Not bad, I'd say.
I look forward to seeing more of your work at DPC.

I gave this a 7. I thought the black and white treatment was perfect and you did a very good job with conveying that cold feeling. The voters are a fickle bunch. So ignore them and just keep on doing what you are doing and eventually they will catch up with you :) |

Thank you to those who voted and commented. jminso I appreciate the support. I was hoping this would do much better as well, but I'm still improving my technique and photography skills so I'll take it.
At the very least this will look good in a frame on my wall!

Nice shot, looks slightly tilted though I'm sure it isn't. |

I almost missed this one. I love this shot, not only does it convey coldness from the snow but even more so from the darkness and emptiness. The lighting is great and comp is spot on. Well done. 10 |
