Didn't really come out quite as I had in mind... not the most creative photo, but I was going more for technically decent than conceptually innovative. I'm sure there will be plenty of other pepper shots in this challenge--and maybe some of them will even be red! (I'd have preferred red or yellow--anything but green, really--but I was in a rush and the most-convenient store only had green ones.)
My setup was so low-tech, so low-budget it's almost embarrassing to describe. Clip-on light for background gradient, 500W work light bounced off of foamcore for foreground light, all on a chunk of clear glossy plastic.
The dust (esp. in the lower right) is really bothering me! I tried to kill it with Dust & Scratches / NeatImage, but only got so much of it. Already lost more detail than I'd have liked in the peppers - ideally I'd reshoot, but I'm not expecting to have time to do that.
I thought about titling this "Jalapeno Joedown," just to be silly, but I decided that wouldn't actually be better.
PP: Hue (greener greens & redder reds); Saturation (+2); lil bit o' levels; lots of noise redux to try to kill dust; USM.
If I were good at guessing how images would be received, I'd get higher scores than I do, since I largely aim to please in this forum. Hoping, however, for a modal average of 6. |
