I really love looking at this portrait. The soft lighting and skin are just wonderful together.

Thanks for all the comments... in fact, this was a very rushed shot which I took in the bedroom just before Kate went to sleep. She was a bit grumpy about being kept up, so I made it very quick and used only a couple of cheap and dim lamps on either side of the bed. This is why I used a 1 sec exposure, and why there's no detail in the hair. However, I think the experience and comments will definitely help the next time I plan a portrait.
It took a lot of PS work to get anything presentable, and the 'Lighting Effects' filter (part of the 'Render' filters) helped enormously in 'faking' a studio setup.

Me again, I drew two of yours in a row.

The lighting on the left is wonderful, however I think maybe a small amount of light coming from the right to balance it would give this image greater impact and soften some of the shadows on your model's face as well as bring out some detail in her hair. This could be done using a reflector.

You've done well with the catch light in her eyes. The composition works well with your model looking into the negative space.

Keep shooting.

Nicely posed/composed shot. I like the tone of your background. Compliments her skin tones nicely. A touch more lighting on her hair (as simple as a reflector above and to the side of her) would make this go from a good portrait to a great one!

Interesting use of the lighter end (of the color gradient) for the negative space; I think I like having her looking into the space.

Very interesting and unique looking portrait. I like your model's pose and gaze but I would prefer that she did not have a smile, but rather a more pensive and serious look. Skin tone/color appears too orange/magenta looking. Lighting is a bit too harsh and with the soft look you've acheived (with NeatImage?) to me the overall feel of the image seems to be somewhat confused . Gradient background is good. I also think I would prefer to see more detail in her hair, maybe with some fill lighting.

Lighting: Lighting is good, and well balanced, with a catchlight giving a strong sense of interest in her eyes. The shadows could use a bit of lightening around the left eye, and the hair has lost some of its detail, but minor issues of personal taste.
Pose: The pose works. The shoulders work with the eyes to create a pair of leading lines that draw the attention.
Background: Nicely done.

Just a little extra light on her left eye area is something I might try. The colors and pose are good.

this is really quite lovely. The focus and lighting on the model, the soft shadings on the background....it all adds up to a very attractive color studio portrait

I have to be honest and say that I have mixed emotions about this shot. The lighting and soft focus are beautiful, but I am confused about the implied nudity of what appears to be a rather young woman...and that is a bit off-putting. I could be way off base, and she could very well be a grown woman, but she does look rather youthful. Aside from that, it is a visually interesting portrait.

The angle of the light puts her right eye into a shadow ... I like the soft affect.

A little too much shadow on her face but very pretty photo.

Sweet face, way to soft for my taste

Her skin detail seems gone. Perhaps just a little too much processing (NI ?) to soften the skin tones. Other than that, I like the lighting and croping.

Cool photo. A little too much blur.

Very good. Doesn't need the left-most 15% of the image (rule-of-thirds doesn't seem to fit here).

The face is perfect but the blur on shoulders, upper chest and arms is detracting.

I like the lighting and the softness ... the colors are excellent too. My only beef is the loss of detail in the hair and the green tinge ...

focus looks perfect. the soft focus may have been just a tad overdone, but not enough to significantly affect the score. good job!

Needs a bit more light on her left.

Very nice. very very nice. my only suggestion: maybe her eyes go too far to the right,

somehow the nudeness in this picture gives me an uneasy feeling. Maybe because she looks so pure. I think I would have liked the picture better with a little bit of cloth on her.
