Just got my monopod for father's day and thought I give it a whirl. This pic was taken at 300mm with monopod. I was surprised how steady I could keep it.

Great details, but better yet, GREAT colors. Your use of DOF is fantastic, the softness of the background works great against the sharp focus of your subject. Most spectacular!

This one made me laugh! I read the title out loud a few times and kept laughing. I also love the symmetry between the plant that the fly is resting on and the background. My only real complaint is the fly itself which seems a bit too sharp. My minor complaint is that it's too centered but it seems to fit. I probably would have put the fly more to the left of the frame since that is the direction it seems to be facing (for the most part). Great job! 8

You've done very well with depth of field and the colours are nice. However, the bright spot at the bottom is a bit distracting and the main subject is a little too central. It could be put off center be cropping about 1/4 of the picture off the lefthand side. Also, this may have worked better in a vertical composition to emphasize the stems of the flowers. 6

Great colours and shapes and the shallow DOF really works well - the background still shows shapes and colours but doesn't interfere with the foreground.

Nice shot, however would have prefered it if your main subject was situated elsewhere rather than being right in the centre of the image.

Holy gravity, Batman! That's a really cool shot. Great DOF, focus, color. Would like a tighter crop but that's just me. :o)

Im getting so tired of insect pictures, but I just love this picture, the colors are great and the angle of the fly is good too - nice job '8'.

You might want to consider croppin to decentre your main subject.
