Maybe not the most creative solution. But then again, how do you shoot something everyone agrees is extraordinary?

When I first got the idea, I did not know that the word "Extraordinary" would be at the top of a page in the dictionary that I have at home. I would probably have rejected the idea if it wasn't so.

I made several versions of the picture, but somehow the one I ended up liking the most was this one. Hopefully I will get some feedback on the picture; this being my first submission to any challenge.

Editing: I have cropped the original, adjusted levels and added some USM.

Reading the recent thread of the "artsy pictures" discussion, I see why I didn't do that well. But, I would like to thank you for all the comments I have gotten; it's a great way to learn and improve. This was my first challenge, and surely the only way is up from here (I really do hope!).

Literal and nice use of DoF to highlight the word. Exposure seems over exposed, probably caused by changing to B&W with no grey tones. . White line in border creates the area of most contrast and thus draws too much atrtention.

Two of the same idea in one competition! This is a great idea that is overexposed a bit.

Very nice idea, I like it and would love to know the process. Wish there was a tad more definition around the page edges, with the full B&W being so rich, it doesn't look like a photo so much as a painting.

Nice idea, but I would have preferred the lighting to be a little softer, and instead of washing out the rest of the page, blur it out.

Good idea. I think, however, that the contrast is too high or possibly that it is over leveled. The whites are blown out and the black is too. This makes the image look flat. There is obviously some depth to the photo and it would be better in my opinion to celebrate the depth and texture rather than eliminate it.
