The picture has too many elements in it taking the focus away from the dog. I hate to see pets dressed up, but thats just my opinion. |

Sorry, not a person, but:
Lighting: Well lit, with expressive catchlights.
Pose: "I'm going to bite you leg off if you do not give my master a good score." ;)
Background: The background is too cluttered. I realize it was the intention, but it draws too much attention away from the model of the portrait. |

Aren't Pugs Chinese? This one looks quite at home though ... |

love the direct stare of the pug. Good colours, focus, dof.....this is a different idea and to me it works. |

Another person in doggy fur! A complicated shot, well done. I think it would be preferable to have the missing forepaw in the picture, however. |

As good as this portrait is, I can't award you full credit due to the fact that the instructions specifically stated to shoot a portrait of a person. Sorry! :o) |

Good idea, but the background is a bit crowded. |

it's funny, maybe a little soft and the crop cuts off his foot |

I have no problem with a dog as a subject for a portrait, in fact in some areas you can make AWESOME money doing pet portraits. You have a beautiful dog here. However, the shot doesn't quite do him justice. First off, it's a little cluttered. There are too many elements and most of them don't really add too much. The next thing (and probably most important) is the unimaginative lighting. This looks dull and flat. Moving more of the lights to one side or another would help give it depth. More lights would help with the colors (as well as boosting the levels in PS). You also managed to crop (either in editing or in camera) off his leg which to me is a little distracting.

Cute, patriotic and well lit. Sorry, but even a good title can't turn a dog into a person. |

Sorry, I don't consider dogs to be persons. Cute thoough, lighting is a tad harsh. |

I would like to see more contrast in this shot. It seems pretty flat. Great pose, and tough to get. His paw on the left is cut off also |

A bit cluttered for a "studio" portrait. Cutting off the paw is distracting.
Unfortunately, challenge calls for a person in the portrait.

He's a cute one. Looks a little over exposed, but maybe my monitor. Nice entry. Very American looking!! |

Despite the fact that the challenge clearly stated the photo should be of a person, I think this is a great shot. The accessories are nice, but the straw hat is a bit too bright and detracts from the rest of the photo. |

Love that face ... just wish you didn't cut his/her right paw off. I also would have liked a tighter cropping because the background is busy and detracts from viewing the subject. That's just me though. |

Good luck though |

I don't like jokes with pets, like putting hats on them. And it bothers me that his front paw has been cut of. The background is way to distracting to make it a nice and truthfull portrait. |

I LOVE IT! You're going to pay for having a dog instead of a human but I think this is wonderful! The lighting seems a bit harsh on the right while the left seems a bit dull. The glare on the jam jar is also a bit distracting. Overall a nice composition and great idea, a 7 |

I'm sure you've had everyone quoting directly from the challenge description noting the word..."Person" .....so I'm sure you'll understand why I must vote you low even though it's a nice portrait of a nice doggy. |
