A bit of a cop out for this challenge really, but I couldn't think of anything extraordinary, and I've got a busy week, so shooting something before Tuesday was looking a bit hopeful. This was done Sunday night.
I don't subscribe to the 'don't enter unless you've got something good' theory that some folks apply to dpc obviously.
Shot on a large sheet of white paper under two flouro desk lamps. Custom white balance taken off a gray card to compensate for all the blue in the shot! :-).
Tripod mounted, using timer to avoid the shakes as I was using F/8 for max DOF. Still came out a bit soft at the ends of the focus range in the original image, but at 640x417 it's not too noticable.
Post processing in the gimp was USM, scale, crop, sharpen, add border, and save to fit 150k rule.
Hope you find this amusing, although I've seen a few 'plastic toy still life' photos get shot to pieces on dpc, so we'll see how it goes.
For the record, the smurf collection is not mine, it's my wifes.... |

shiney objects are a hard thing to shoot. You've done very well shooting these but the glare is overwhelming. Also I don't really see these as extraordinary seeing that they are just kids toys. maybe a black background would have been more affective causing less shadows. |

Wow, I find it extraordinary that anyone would still have a large and relatively clean collection of these little blue guys...
I remember collecting these when I was a kid... They were a serious fad back then. |
