I have NO idea how this will do. It could beat my previous scores (5.3) or fall well below them. It all depends how strictly people interpret the challenge. My subject is mid-action, just not a very fast active one.
I love this photo, but then again I love the subject in this photo, so I am a little biased :-)

This is Dandy, my 6 year old cockatiel.
I have no studio nor any other camera equipment besides my camera, so set up included propping her in front of a window and cranking up the ISO. This is at 1600 which is why the background is so grainy.
The trick to getting her to chew on her foot was by putting small amounts of yogurt on it, which she would then meticulously clean off.
After a while she got annoyed with me putting stuff on her foot and flew to her cage, which ended the photo shoot.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Hello and welcome to DPC! You are a month into your membership and I see you have already entered quite a few Challenges.

I loved your cockatiel shot with that impish gleam in her eye and the gorgeous color she displays. Your background color went nicely with her orange spot and that yellow headdress - Well!

Unfortunately quite a bit of Dandy was not in focus and this may have impacted your score. If you had the pixels, a closer crop to that head and foot might have focused attention on the action without the distraction of fuzzy feathers & bar.

But keep 'em coming. It is obvious you are having fun with this and more practice will bring better scores quicker than you might think.

Alice
