 A Maribu, one of the ugliest birds on the planet. It's a scavenger, no (very little) feathers on it's neck, so that blood and gore can't stick to it. Taken with 70-200 plus 1.4 teleconverter, with exposure bias at -1 instead of +1.

Interesting looking bird. Not the pretties bird around but I like it. The colors look a little blown. The sky was not helping you out at all. Overall decent shot.

Welcome to DPC! You've just been aboard a few months now, as have a few other South Afticans, and it is a pleasure to see you participate.

You have a wonderful capture here; an ugly bird to be sure and all the more fascinating for that. You have met the Challenge problem nicely by stopping the motion on that beast in the act of landing. Of course you could not tell that bird to land with lighting that pleased your camera and thus your definition of that fabulous head & those feathers suffered.

Still it was a fine capture, and I hope you don't let the low score distract you. Keep 'em coming. I'll look forward to seeing more of your work.

that is a hideous bird, but a pretty decent shot. shame you lose the head behind that little branch.
