For this shot, I wanted to have literally a heart inside a woman's eye, for an obvious representation of love.
My wife was kind enough to help me and pose in front of a heart-shaped orange paper.
We had to adjust the lighting: she was holding a flash in front of the heart, in order to make the reflection pop, while I was triggering a macro-ring flash with diffusers on the right side.
As for the processing: spot editing, Topaz Adjust for clarity, and some levels and color adjustments.

Thank you all for your comments!
I knew this would be suspected of rules breaking, and as such, probably scored a bit lower than others. There is lot of room for improvement anyway, and I learned many things by doing it, especially about lighting. Which convinces me it was well worth shooting it :-)

I don't get it! (Not the photo but the scoring - 17 votes below 5!!). I gave you an 8 though I had a slight concern that the heart may had been placed there by bending the editing rules but didn't want to vote without objective evidence, which is what I suspect some may have done.
Thanks for the details on how the shot was made and the effort gone too. Excellent photo! You were robbed of a front page IMHO.
Edited to remove a wayward letter.

I wouldn't even begin to know how to set up this shot. The mood would have come over stronger without the light reflecting on the right side of the eye. |
