 Well, first I tried to get greater dynamic range in Photomatix via fusing 'multiple' exposures generated using exposure compensation in RAW. With the +/-1EV I got so strong halo effect, that after reducing to +/- 2/3EV I neglected that 'little' leftover.

Nice idea, because of the amount of cropping, the definition is a bit weak. I don't mind the halo, but other DPers will

Creative idea. To me, the halo effect around the bird feels very unnatural.
