 the slight vignette at the bottom was made by covering the lens with a paper towel with a hole torn in it
light was provided by one table lamp behind me and the camera flash which was behind the paper towel which was on the lens

i like the idea but the soft focus isn't working for me 5

There is some black on black here but it isn't a big part of the image. More of an issue for me is the fogginess in the lower part of the image and the lack of contrast.
