So.... in the past two challenges, Orange and the Free Study, I really really did try to enter photographs I thought would, in general, please the voters. But the voters were not wow'd.

And they won't be thrilled with this one either, but at least I know that going in.

Some day my photography will improve! It will please you, the voter! Or not. :-) Definitely not this week. (And I do need to work on the really tiny apertures/focal distance thing so when I do odd wide like this, I can get clouds in focus.)

From a folder called "Midday beach". I spotted this poor lonely tennis ball on the way across the beach, shot it once or twice, then the tide came in as I was heading back and it was even more pathetic all wet and scraggly. I figured some dog got distracted and forgot all about the ball, and now it waits for the dog to come back...

Maybe the more abstractish version?

Nah, didn't think so. :-)

Love the sand and water ripples, I think if voters read the title they would have understood better. Meh what can you do? I hope you submit something to the Zen challenge too!

very good shot Deb! Love the reflected clouds, and the B&W (Is this the famed Silverefex? I want one!) ...it does not address the theme in an obvious way (say, without the title), I guess that's the explanation for the relatively low score.

I wish I knew what the "dog" meant in this context but I like the shot anyway. Looke like some primordial beach.

So clear and sharp. Nice. But it's not "waiting"...

The Black and White is effective. The subject combined with the title is fantastic. 8

I love this texture, it took me a moment to see the tennis ball though, I thought it was a rock at first. :)
