convert to black and white, dodge and burn, cloned out 1 minor imperfection in background (within rule set nothing that would change a viewers perspective of image)

took a actual real shoe that broke when i was out dancing and figured an obscure new use for it would be this challenge- placed flowers/water in the hollow part- set on table in natural light- snapped photos -- i figure its a 'weird' enough to put water into a shoe and some flowers into it...one never knows with voters...but i seriously hope this at least does average or better-

a shoe in place of a vase I do believe fits the description of the challenge...
Take a picture of something that is in a weird position, looks weird, or that doesn't belong in the picture.
shoes generally belong in closets or on ones feet after all.. this i guess can go either way- bomb big-time or do well... the reflections and fractured sunlight really influenced the name tho- natural light used- i'm sure people will nitpick my title because i called it 'much light' and there are some dark areas -- but the lit up areas are the main focus--soooo hopefully ppl will get it...

I think this was a really great concept. I think this would have been a super shot with the right lighting. The photo seems dark in too many important areas (the petal leaves & inside the shoe). Unfortunately, I can't offer specific advice on how to make it better as artificial lighting is my weakness (for now).

I love the way used the natual light here and used it to bring the flowers out but not to much in some way i feel te shoe could have been highlighted more just a tad but still a great image

Doesn't this look good in color?? I do like the light and shadow play, and the b&w conversion is awesome, however to me flowers just need color!

Interesting and moody. I'm on the fence about the lighting - since the main subject is rather complex, and the background lighting is also complex due to the lines, nothing pops as the "main" subject.
