 Having checked the weather and tide tables first, I made a special trip to get this shot. The lighthouse stands at the mouth of the River Mersey near an old fort called Perch Rock. On the right of the picture you can see the cranes and lights of Bootle docks, Liverpool.

Thanks for all the votes, comments and faves. I uploaded this shot around the 6th of April, feeling sure I wouldn't take a better picture for the rest of the month. While I've been worrying over that for four weeks I just happen to have won a blue and a yellow ribbon. It's been quite a month and for certain it will be a tough one to follow.

What a fantastic photo. I love every aspect of it. The HDR effect makes it dramatic, the light around the lighthouse brings your attention to it, the leading lines in the rocks also bringint the focus to the lighthouse. I LOVE it.

I'm always drawn to lighthouse photos. I love how the clouds and the craggy rocks sort of mimic each other and they come together at the apex of the lighthouse. Nicely done. 8

Looks like Perch Rock to me :)
I like the fact you can see the docks in the background. Good foreground interest.
