I like the strong vertical lines combined with the horizontal foreground tree. The colors are good, but not enough detail on the trees. It isn't immediately evident that there had been a fire, although once reading the title it becomes clearer. Perhaps with less contrast some more detail could be detected? Snce the sky is overexposed, it may work better if the sky were just eliminated. It really doesn't add anything to the image. With the sky cropped, you'd be able to lighten the whole scene to expose more detail. I love that green coming up....would like to see it highlighted. Overall I like this picture, and the subject is very photojournalistic. Grayce |

Eventually comes beauty but it is so ugly until then. I like the fallen tree and think it adds to this shot. Good centering and crop, maybe just a little more sky but it's ok as is. Personally I'd liked a little more sky. Nice job. PTL8 |

Good photo. I like the contrast of green grass & blackened trees. Brown leaves bother me a little with your title. 8

good photo, but for this challenge it doesn't fit because photojournalism requires that the photo informs in a very clear way, someone who doesn't already understand wouldn't get it. |

If you were trying to show the greenery coming "out of the ashes" a lower angle might have been more effective. There's a neat photo here and it might have been more effective without the log in the foreground. It sort of breaks up a nice vertical arrangement of lines established by the standing trees. |

a recent forest fire, I presume. Maybe 6 months ago already because I can see the grass cropping out. 6 |

Your composition here is very effective and the shot definitely tells the story. The sky is a little washed out, but cant always control the weather! Natasha |

I couldn’t tell at first that the trees were all burnt up and didn’t get the picture until I read the title and had a second look. It is a nice picture, I just wish the burnt areas stood out more.
