I've driven by this view five days a week for the last thirty years. The Pacific Ocean is a few miles beyond the horizon. It was one of those rare days when I'm not late for work, the clouds were suitable, and there's a challenge I could stop and shoot for.

Experimented with channel adjustment curves under a desaturation adjustment layer. Then played with Shadow/Highlights command for a while, then USM for contrast enhancement. Resized, sharpened, resized for web, sharpened, fade.

A pleasing scene, perhaps a little grayish looking on some of mountains in the distance. I suspect you had a choice between strong contrast and bringing out some detail. If they had stronger contrast I would probably have said something about lack of detail. There's just no pleasing some people, is there?

The clouds really work in this picture.

Interesting how the tree line mimics the mountains to some extent. Seems like a lot of gray tones, with very few dark areas. Makes the photo seem a bit flat.

difficult to tell with b&w whose grass is greener. foreground and sky good. middle ground weak. immediate focus on sky rather than landscape

This is a very nice image with great composition. I'll bet this would be really cool with a little more contrast. JMO

great cloud formation in this shot. Love the heaviness of them over the land which seems to have a bit of sun poking through.

This needed a little color too! I think a "Cheddar Cow" would have looked great out in this pasture! I sure love this part of the world! The purity of the exposure also appeals to me more than many of the 'Burned black'photos in this challenge! 8
