I basically followed Labuda's setup for this shot.
Black cardboard with a peep hole cut out in the center.
1st, hand is placed infront of the cutout and 1st exposure taken while a sheet of glass with a small black cutout placed in the center to create a black center in the hand.
2nd, hand removed and model moved behind the cardboard and put eye through peephole and 2nd exposure taken.
Very little editing done, curves, contrast, levels, highhpass, shadows/highlights, saturation.
Took a ton of tries to align the eye, hold, and glass sheet, was especially hard to do in a pitch black room.
****
Heres the version I did without the basic editing restrictions

An image that deserves a higher placement. The coloration and painting on the hand is outstanding. Magic! |

It's been done before I know but not a bad execution of this shot. My only nitpic is that I would like to see the eye a little brighter 6 |

Very nicely done. Would score this higher and want more detail/visual eye. Had difficulty really seeing the eye but once you know its easy. 7 |

There is no question in my mind that this will be the blue ribbon at rollover. Brilliant image, and incredibly well done considering basic editing. |

Blue hand grips blue ribbon. Beautiful lighting, and a pair of images that support each other cleanly both graphically and conceptually. The clear favorite, |

Very impressive! Just having the eye in the right spot should have been a challenge. Cool painting. |

Cool hand artwork and jewelry. I wish the center object was more in focus. |

The Hand reminds me of the movie Avatar for some reason.
Beautiful photo!
Might have liked it slightly better without the ring though. The bracelet is a nice compliment but the ring draws my eye away from the eye (lol, awkward wording there) |
